Nose

Fresh on the nose with yellow fruits, apricots and subtle pineapples. Sweet with vanilla and a significant alcoholic bite in the back.

Palate

Sweet and fruity on the palate accompanied by a strong alcoholic warmth. After this fades, fruit is coming through with apricots and peaches. Then sweet vanilla arrives, followed by a spicy mix of pepper, ginger and subtle oak.

Finish

The finish is medium long, tender sweet and warming, followed by slightly bitter notes of green hazelnuts and dry oak.

With water

A decent splash of water doesn't tame the alcoholic bite significantly. The fruit becomes more complex with a slightly waxy note in the back. Fruity, sweet and creamy on the palate, followed by a warming spicy mix of black pepper and oak. The finish is rather short with bitter notes of green walnuts and more dry oak.

Comments

This pretty young Highlander from the C&S Dram Collection in cask strength shows notes of yellow fruits accompanied by a creamy vanilla sweetness and some bitter nutty tones. The high alcohol content of 60% abv is noticeable significantly. With the addition of water, the alcoholic pungency is partly tamed, in addition to the fruity notes, clearly dry oak aromas appear. For my taste, the Teaninich is still very young, which can be clearly felt on the nose and palate.
