Nose

Fruity on the nose with ripe pears and green apples, accompanied by creamy vanilla and toffee. A hint of oak in the background combined with a noticeable alcoholic bite which isn't pungent.

Palate

Very strong on the palate with warming spices, white pepper and a touch of aniseed. This is somewhat softened by a creamy vanilla sweetness, fruity pears and some caramel.

Finish

The finish shows medium length with a sticky light fruit, vanilla, caramel and warming oak spice.

With water

After adding a splash of water, the alcoholic bite is tamed, while the fruity aromas of pear and apple, together with vanilla, get the upper hand. Significantly tamed also on the palate with creamy vanilla and fruit aromas, accompanied by distinctly dry oak. The finish is of medium length with vanilla, toffee and dry oak spice.

Comments

A bold, intense, even stormy Glengoyne that can tolerate water very well. Behind the alcoholic bite, creamy vanilla and sweet fruit aromas flash up, which form a nice symbiosis with spicy oak. Definitely a dram that needs full attention and water.
