Nose

Sweet smoke on the nose, with BBQ and some peat. Lots of sherry with raisins and herbal candies, accompanied by some tar and a slightly maritime note.

Palate

Powerful start on the palate with smoke, ashes, spicy wood fire and lots of chili spice. This is followed by sweet sherry, accompanied by raisins, dates, orange and spices such as cinnamon, marzipan and some oak.

Finish

The finish is long lasting and warming with notes of smoke, sticky dark fruit, dark chocolate and subtle marzipan.

With water

After the addition of water sweetish on the nose with lots of sherry, raisin and orange. All in all much more fruity with less smoke and peat aromas. On the palate, however, a completely different picture: very dry with lots of smoke, chili, cracked black pepper and cloves. Strongly warming and almost no sweet aromas perceptible. The finish is long, warming, spicy with slightly medicinal notes and lots of dry dark chocolate.

Comments

A young blended malt from Islay, which pleases by the interplay of smoke and sherry. But not very complex, as the aromas do not show depth. After adding water, the blended malt disintegrates more and more and only pungent, spicy and smoky aromas remain.
